I apologize because I can't remember the guys name but maybe someday I will find the story that my wife had written as I had told her. He also said that his dad someday planned on putting a cabin on the property for hunting. He also told me that him and his parents were going to visit the grave after his graduation. I had no reason to disbelieve the guy that told me she was his great grandmother. If and when I do I will publish it on this site. But it has been misplaced and I haven't found it yet. My wife had written a more complete story of what I just told you. She was buried at the grave that is so popular out there. She died and was found by friends that lived not far from there. ![]() No one knew for sure what the sickness was. ![]() Apparently an undetermined time later she became sick. Friends tried to get Eliza to move away but she refused as that area was her home. It was only a couple of hundred yards back in the woods behind Eliza's grave. The story goes that Her and her husband lived in a cabin in the woods alone. I asked him about her being a witch and he said that it wasn't true. He said that his family was from California and that his dad owned the property out where Eliza was buried. I told him of Eliza's Jane grave site and he said that was his great grandmother. He thought it was near a cemetery called Mayfield. One day I had one passenger going to one of the ranges and he asked me if I had heard of a witches grave off of J highway. I haul troops around on post back and forth to the ranges and so forth. My name is Lorin and I am the founder of the group "Society Of The Unknown". ![]() I know that they are no longer there, but I also know that many people who loved them go there to talk and just remember, it's a matter of principal, and the fact that their shells are still there, not that they are actually there!!! In my opinion, that is just as disrespectful as destroying it, which has also been done!!! It really doesn't matter what the story is or who is actually buried there, respect is the bottom line and WHOEVER is buried there deserves the utmost, as does anyone who has passed!! I have two grandchildren buried in a cemetary and I can tell you that I would rip someone in half if I caught them trashing their graves. I was with you when we went by there and I was very disgusted, I get someone wanting to show respect or decorate for holidays, but those same people should also return to take down all the decorations!!! We went out there in February and it was an absolute mess. As you know Tamaska I have heard that she was a witch and was buried there so she wouldn't taint the good christian burial plot known as Mayfield, but have no idea what the real story is, as you stated, there are many stories about the burial plot.
